DRINKS & FOOD PAIRINGS MENU
The Iron Five
A good whiskey can stand on its own. That being said, there is nothing wrong with enjoying your whiskey in a mixed drink, Afterall, there is a whiskey (or whiskey drink) for everyone. Our mixed drink menu rotates seasonally, but the Iron Five stand strong all year round. These are the pillars of the whiskey drink, each of them offering a little something different in ways to enjoy your whiskey. But that’s enough from me, here are the Iron Five
- O’Connell’s Old FashionedThe Grandad of Cocktails is the Old Fashioned. Starting simply as a sugar cube, bitters, and a measure of whiskey, this drink has gone through changes over the years. A good Old Fashioned should accent the whiskey within it, not mask it. The O’Connell Old Fashion is just that, a standing statement of tradition and respect to the old ways. Whiskey, Bitters, In House Simple Syrup, a touch of the Green Fairy, and an orange peel to garnish. Available with the following: Bourbon – Irish – Rye – True American – Custom (Your Whiskey of Choice)$10
- Wilson’s Choice Whiskey ColaAt the end of a hard day, whether it be on the mountain, the river, in the mines, or on the ranch, nothing quenches like a whiskey and a pick me up. Wherever you find the working class, you can find the whiskey cola. Wilson’s choice, The Lemmy, Jack and Coke; call it what you will but enjoy our take on this American classic. Bitters, Whiskey, Local Colorado Cola, and a twist of lemon. Available with the following: Bourbon – Irish – Rye – Canadian$7.50
- The John HenryAmerican myths are known as “Tall Tales”, and one of the greatest of these was the legend of John Henry. The hero of the working man in an age of industrial revolution, his story shows that no amount of machinery or technology can beat the heart and drive of the American worker. This drink is dedicated to the workers of all backgrounds and peoples that built this country, and to the beasts of burden that helped them. I once met a mighty mule who proudly bore this moniker in honor of the Tall Tale, continuing the legend to this day. House Ginger Syrup, Seltzer, Whiskey, and Lime with enough of a punch to drive rail spikes through stone. Available in the Following: Whiskey Mule - -Irish Mule – Canadian Mule – Custom Mule (Your Whiskey of Choice)$9.50
- Wilder’s Whiskey SourA true whiskey sour is a rare thing, but once you have had one you will never stand for imposters again. Another classic whiskey drink that has seen its share of changes throughout the generations but which is returning to its original strength and character. Like the people of the west, and their ancestors before them, it carries with it the core of its history. Raise a glass to fiercer and wilder generations to come. Whiskey, lemon juice, egg white*, Bitters. Available as: Bourbon – Irish – Rye – Custom (Your Whiskey of Choice)$9.50
- Troy’s WhiskeyritaWhiskey is a wonderful thing. I could certainly end with that, but I suppose you are reading this to learn about the drink. While some like their Vodkas or Tequilas, we at the Iron Dram Whiskey Lodge stand by the greatest of spirits. And when a younger taste is needed, we can always turn to moonshine and Potcheen (Pu-sheen). Our take on the classic Margarita using Troy and Sons Platinum Whiskey, a moonshine made from Crooked Creek Corn and Appalachian Spring water. We think you will agree that what other spirits can do, whiskey can do better. Moonshine, Lime Juice, Curacao and salt. Simple as that.$10.25
