All-day Breakfast
The French breakfast which you see today served with coffee was not always in the French history. The story began in the era of King Louis XVI and his entourage during the Renaissance, where the coffee was first introduced with breakfast by the Turkish Sultan's ambassador. Breakfast in France started with simplicity of buttered baguettes dipped in dairy, until the early 20th century when grandmothers began preparing the lost bread breakfast (French toast). we offer you at Café Ségo combines notions of traditionalism and modernism.

Afternoon Tea (for Two)
Anna Russell, Duchess of Bedford in the year 1840, was first credited for making ‘Afternoon Tea’ into a formal social occasion. The Duchess would become hungry around four o’clock in the afternoon. The evening meal in her household was served fashionably late at eight o’clock, thus leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner. The Duchess would ask for a tray of tea, bread and butter and cake be brought to her room during the late afternoon. This became her habit and she began inviting friends to join her. Interestingly, while tea is certainly not as popular today in France as it is in the United Kingdom, this has not always been the case. Tea was first imported and drunk in France in the 17th century. At first, it was mainly drunk for medicinal reasons but it also became popular for entertainement in the afternoon among aristocratic ladies. Some sources credit the French for being the first to add milk to tea. It was a regular drink in the court of King Louis XIV, the Sun King. He was known for drinking copious amount of tea. Very fast, ‘Afternoon tea’ became popular among the aristocracy and was associated with royalty, leisure, and wealth.

Cheese List
French cheese is an important part of the French culture. Its importance to them is not less than Fashion or the Eiffel Tower. Its history dates to 800 years ago and France has more than 1,800 types of cheese. Various French regions are famous for different types of cheese that distinguishes from others. Each type was named after the regions from which it was invented. French eat cheese on a daily basis during lunch and dinner before the dessert. French spread cheese all over the world. This expresses a food style that adds a delicious taste to any meal. French writer Stendhal says: "The French who not eat cheese, he is not French."

Macarons
It’s believed that the macaron was born in Italy and brought over to France as early as 1533 by Catherine di Medici, a noblewoman from Florence who married the future King of France, Henri II. The first macarons were very simple biscuits made of sugar, almond flour and egg whites. Two Carmelite nuns in Nancy, a town in north-eastern France, baked and sold macarons during the French Revolution in 1792 to support themselves. However, their macarons were a little different from ours, because they had no filling. Over time, different regions in France adopted the recipe but the macaron as we know it today didn’t come about until the 1890s in the Parisian confectioners.
